LKAB Malmberget
At the Malmberget iron ore mine in Sweden, LKAB had to break down oversized boulders before they reached the crushers, 1,250 meters below ground, in a confined environment.
Traditional blasting methods were time-consuming, costly, and posed safety risks. A Brokk 800 replaced explosives with mechanical demolition, allowing operators to manage oversize material more consistently and keep the crushing process moving.
